Bolivian Rainbow

Species: Capsicum annuum | Origin: Bolivia | Pungency: Hot

Bolivian Rainbow is an attractive ornamental variety that has been grown in Bolivia for centuries. It has deep green and purple coloured foliage, which can turn almost black when exposed to full sun, and in 2021 it received the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit (AGM). The cone-shaped, upright growing chillies start brilliant purple and ripen through pink, yellow and orange before eventually turning bright red. Aptly named the Bolivian Rainbow, all colour stages of the ripening process are normally visible at the same time, making this variety a real sight to behold! In addition to the attractive colour changes of the chillies, the flowers are also brilliant purple, and together with the almost black coloured foliage it makes the plants even more visually appealing.
